I just did a cleanup on someone's computer that got this. They actually called the number and got scammed out of their whole life savings. The usual Indian scammers.

I use WebDAV because my phones use that for all services which keeps everything on my own servers. Contacts, calendar, files, etc. Both Android and iPhone can be set up this way.

A scared population is easier to control. Brainwashing 101. The fact that people fall so easily to these ploys is scary. It's like the Internet works backwards on many people. God was right. Humans don't deserve knowledge. In my best Nicholson impression: They can't handle the information!

It's the way everything is moving. Hardware protected keys can be very useful but it's a double edged sword. It's more secure but also allows companies to lock consumers out.

We need rules that say when this tech is used the consumer still gets full control over it. Like what Google does with their Pixel phones and the Titan chip. Not what Apple does.
