I always describe satisfactory as subnautica but about automating machinery like a tycoon game but with more reminiscent of portal. Needless to say its really fun!

For those of you looking for adobe alternatives the affinity suite is quite good too, I don't think it is open source and it is not free but you can make a lifetime license purchase that is not really all that expensive, I think it is one of the best adobe alternatives at the moment because it is so similar both in tools and the ecosystem.

At the moment the rest are all ones that compete with specific adobe apps like darktable being better than lightroom as an example.

I like gimp but all of these software alternatives will just land in a similar spot where the only cohesiveness is that the files can be exported/imported between eachother.

Are you trying to say that the name of smoke signal all is cultural appropriation?

Nice didn't know this existed, plus its framasoft so its got more attached to it already than just a dev who started a thing recently

This cool new thing that was just created recently called smoke signal that is basically a fediverse alternative to website like meetup.com

Once I saw this I had realized what was missing from the fediverse experience and that this was it, local interaction!

Check out smoke signal!

idk if im crazy but i tried like, all, of the commonly reccomended linux distros a few years back when it was my first time and really did not like any of them, and then i tried an arch derivative with plasma kde and then fell in love with arch based distros to the point that i absolutely do not want to use anything else. i tried endeavor os recently and have been loving it!

why is it that when i post on some communities i cant see my post on the community but apparently at least some other people can see and respond to it?

example is when i posted on the kgatlw community about the band called doom gong recently.

is it some kind of federation shenanigans like when a server is not federated with one but the other one is?

...now that i think about it, this is probably something thst has been asled before, i should have checked before posting this but ill still post anyways.

another question, if that is the case then is there a easy way to tell which servers are federated with which?

fixed: turns out hide read posts setting was enabled so i didnt see them, i had to change it on through the browser login, changing it in the voyager app for lemmy didnt change it.

id like to make the comment section into a list of ways to use peertube. i know there is grayjay, going to the peertube instance website of your choice, and the peertube app which if i recall isnt completed yet but is expected to be done sometime soon but correct me if im wrong, im sure there are other apps people use for peertube but maybe not, i havent actually looked. As well as how does everyone interact with peertube? Is it mostly following specifically people or more like other fediverse platforms where you just make an account somewhere on a instance you deem worthy and check out the whole peertube userbase, I know each instance is like a whole YouTube website, does that mean that you have to search based on instances to find things or can you search like all vs local or whatever?

It was rainy last night but some people nearby let out a few and I got 1 really good picture from it!

I dont know if this has been asked before or if this may be a little goofy of a question but I didn't see anything relating to it and I'm kinda curious what the culture of Lemmy is like and what sort of common things people see. ive been paying attention to interactions but nothing is as good as just asking everyone.

how do you create a community on Lemmy? I'm not necessarily interested in making one and actively maintaining it but just curious.
