Gamers need to wake tf up and realize that they caused this.

This no longer has anything to do with Nintendo.

gaming influencers like Charlie, Mutahar and (As much as I hate him) Asmongold need to start speaking out if they care about gaming., Instead they are pretending this has nothing to do with politics and is just "Nintendo greed".

Digital game prices have been going up for a while too because of inflation. Inflation that the man the gamers elected promised would go down, not made worse with tariffs.

You can't keep hiding behind this copium anymore. You caused this. Take some damn responsibility, cut it with he bigoted "Anti-woke" bullshit and join us against Trump and Elon

It's so funny that gamergate will lead to the American century of humiliation lmao

veryone in USA will pretty much experience firsthand what happens when nothing from China or made-in-China goes there.

145% tariffs is the same as 200% or 300% tariffs because at that absurd amount , shops and exporters will simply not even bother to sell to USA

[–] Calmrade@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Pretty weird of the US to sanction a right-wing regime (themselves), don't they usually prop them up?

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

Right-wing infighting

[–] BeardedGingerWonder@feddit.uk 8 points 1 week ago

Importers have already started to just shut up shop for a while. Stock can take 1-2 months to make it's way from China to the US, they can't predict what the thing they've ordered is going to cost them when it arrives.

Or a middle-country with 10% tariff will buy from china and sell in to usa with some margin

[–] WafflesTasteGood@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

All for some hope of "re-shoring" our production. Unfortunately all the machinery to do that comes primarily from other countries and some of the most cost effective options was China.

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 23 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Not only machinery, but knowledge and experience too. If we were a sensible country we would be giving incentives for Chinese factory workers to come over and train our workforce, focusing one sector at a time with reasonable targeted tariffs paired with government investment, and so on.

Shitlibs think the Nintendo price hike is entirely Trump. Fascists think it's entirely Nintendo.

It's obviously both.

[–] Munrock@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Trump was Wario all along

Fuck mutahar and roach man. Both are genocide defenders. I hope gaming goes to shit. Their audiences realize they are shit. And then their "career" or whatever the fuck pointless shit they do goes down the toilet. Gamers deserve nothing and even as someone that enjoys gaming watching the community cry is absolutely gold. What will I do after even gaming is out of my financial reach (eating out, movies ie the most basic social activities are already there)? I dunno. Probably stare the wall or meditate

Piracy and/or emulation, probably.

Bring this wicked empire right to its fucking knees and we will put a bullet in its brain

[–] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Is there any meaningful difference between 100% tarrif and 145%? I imagine a small niche of people able to swing the 100 but get blown out by 145.

[–] daniyeg@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

as hasanabi says it anything like above 50% is functionally a trade embargo. doesn't matter if it's 100% or one morbillion percent no meaningful amount of trade can happen between the two unless for critical or very rare items. mass produced gamer slop is unfortunately neither.

[–] gaystyleJoker@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

They were targeted by gamers.

Gamers.

[–] vegeta1@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

"Gamers need to wake tf up" the only thing those worms would be good for is canon fodder. Fuck em.

[–] Terrarium@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

I think they can hide behind copium right into complete destitution.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

are pretending this has nothing to do with politics and is just "Nintendo greed".

I mean, Nintendo is also a greedy ass company.

[–] CarbonScored@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I definitely don't understand how these tariffs work, but couldn't the US' trade partners just.. import from China and sell to the US at a 10% markup?

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

IIRC it's based on country of origin so not really.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Import all the parts from China, slap em together. Now it's made in whatever other country.

[–] Tabitha@hexbear.net 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

gotta hire a whole factory to assemble the part into the box

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 1 week ago

That's not unusual

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

that's current working plan, allegedly
