Another classic: "You must love/accept/work on yourself before you look for love."

Yeah, that's not how it works. Without support, you can only do so much before you feel burned out.

Edit: https://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2019/09/relationships-self-esteem

The authors found that positive social relationships, social support and social acceptance help shape the development of self-esteem in people over time across ages 4 to 76. The authors also found a significant effect in the reverse direction. While earlier research had yielded inconsistent findings, the meta-analysis supports the classic and contemporary theories of the influence of self-esteem on social connections and the influence of social connections on self-esteem, according to Harris. The findings were the same after accounting for gender and ethnicity.

Stop being the victim! (or I will disown you. again.)

Sometimes you can also get "when was the last time you read your Bible?"

I hear that all the time from my Bible thumping mother

I fucking hate it when people say that. You can't choose how you feel

Being outside and sunlight definitely help better your mood. Much better than being inside all day. But of course it doesn't solve the issues.

also in the dark. it is genuinely good advice even if they give it abusively to dismiss real issues.

Just go for a walk, it'll change your whole outlook - two of my friends right now.
