That is unfortunate.
Hopefully they decide to support cryptocurrencies in the future so I can donate to them.
Out of curiosity, why are you limiting yourself to donations only of crypto, and not just crypto in general but only specifically the few you chose to use?
There is no real privacy benefit using crypto here, or any risk in donating with more commonly used payment methods.
It's easier. I just donated to blender because they support crypto. I don't have to make an account. I don't have to give out bank account info.
On a philosophical note, cryptocurrencies can free us from the control of banks. That lack of centralization should be appealing to people in the free software community.
I was going to donate to godot, but they don't support it. And it's not even about being limited to "the few I choose." Supporting crypto at all encourages more people to, you know, use those coins.
I didn't even mention a specific coin. It's sad that you all are bandwagoning and in the process costing the project money. It's ridiculously easy to set up a wallet and have a link to donate, but it looks like the snowball effect has taken hold and now that's one less option people have to support the project.
You can donate to Godot without making an account too, that's only needed if you want to make a recurrent donations (through their system)
I didn't even mention a specific coin.
Not a specific coin no, but to another you did write "If Godot accepted cryptocurrencies I use, then I would donate to them." in another reply. Perhaps you didn't intend to limit it specifically to the currencies you already use, but just crypto in general?

Sure in a broad general sense that might be achievable, but useful adoption levels of crypto is nowhere near possible for the foreseeable future so why let that stop you from supporting? It honestly just sound like a bad excuse or, as someone else mentioned already, just peddling crypto for the sake of it.
Yeah, no. When you have more life experience, you'll realize why it makes sense to make it as easy as possible to donate. The people at Blender understand, which is why they got my donation.
There is literally no downside to supporting cryptocurrencies. But the snowball effect has taken hold and now Godot is going to lose money for it.
Good job doing your part to fit in with the crowd at the expense of pragmatism.
I'm gonna block you now because it's clear you're responding to justify your disdain for crypto and bangwagon mentality.
It's possible to transfer funds out of crypto. As long as you aren't on the wrong end of the constant rug pulls. However your phrasing is oddly passive aggressive.
If you want to donate. Donate. If them not wanting to deal with the hassle of, or something with the horrible reputation of crypto. Is excuse for you not to. You likely never wanted to. 🤷
