Discussion of climate, how it is changing, activism around that, the politics, and the energy systems change we need in order to stabilize things.

As a starting point, the burning of fossil fuels, and to a lesser extent deforestation and release of methane are responsible for the warming in recent decades: Graph of temperature as observed with significant warming, and simulated without added greenhouse gases and other anthropogentic changes, which shows no significant warming

How much each change to the atmosphere has warmed the world: IPCC AR6 Figure 2 - Thee bar charts: first chart: how much each gas has warmed the world. About 1C of total warming. Second chart: about 1.5C of total warming from well-mixed greenhouse gases, offset by 0.4C of cooling from aerosols and negligible influence from changes to solar output, volcanoes, and internal variability. Third chart: about 1.25C of warming from CO2, 0.5C from methane, and a bunch more in small quantities from other gases. About 0.5C of cooling with large error bars from SO2.

Recommended actions to cut greenhouse gas emissions in the near future:

But I was assured that Biden BETRAYED everyone by continuing to allow gasoline, and the only way forward was to punish the Democrats including Kamala Harris who is a whole new person. I thought we were winning? Now that we didn’t vote for the Democrats? I don’t know, someone help me out, I’m confused.

Almost all the climate-focused voters saw through that trolling — the problem is that we had a whole lot of other people stay home and not vote.

Ok I will help you out, why don't you think critically about how you were sure there was a decisive mass of lefty voters who didn't vote for Kamala just to make a statement and when the numbers came in it turns out environmental voters were among her most loyal voting demographic.

Not only is your view politics broken, it is about as incorrect as it can get in this case at predicting what people will do and why.

The question is who's self interests are you blindly serving when you decide to close your eyes and lay back into the comfy hate of the narrative (truth be damned) that selfish lefty idealistic voters voted against their own interests to prove a shrill point and now we are screwed because they betrayed us all just to give Kamala the middle finger?

We have already been through this with the "bernie bro" narrative about why Hillary Clinton lost that centrists had what I can only describe as a borderline obsession with even though the opposite was exhaustively demonstrated in voting statistics.

I'm not even American and I'm getting sick of this kind of complaining.
