I think when you're probably shooting (as in filming) stuff you can't just shave your head in the middle of an ongoing project.
Otherwise I'd agree with the sentiment he should actually shave his hair but in this specific circumstance it doesn't feel disingenuous.
I wish I looked as good bald as they do. I have a head as lumpy as an overripe orange.

You can support someone without shaving your head. Using a bald cap is just disingenuous.
