Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

i like how theres the stereotype of being a:

    • fat man who lives in their parents basement
    • femboy with programmer socks
    • furry

and all of that just for arch/gentoo users

I've never felt so seen in a comment. Also, you're down to monthly?

I don't know why, but saying a trans just sounds weird.

But yes, walking stereotype. I bet you like Fallout New Vegas, too

Oh shit, I didn't see the A. thanks for pointing it out. Maybe my brain was going in the direction of "a trans person".

Brainfarts are my specialty, so yeah, that sounds likely

BTW, yes I was exploring the Mojave just a moment ago.

    Love it

I played it for the first time just recently, and as I'm amab I played as a woman. As I always do.

    [–] vis4valentine@lemmy.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Great! I convinced my (cis) boyfriend to play it for the first time a few weeks ago and I think he has like 40 hours and still haven't finished the game.

I am also playing it to try things I couldn't try previously.

I've never seen that stereotype. I'm not so sure it is one.

The closest thing I've seen to this is femboys using Arch.

Does it count when I am nonbinary and use openSUSE as my daily driver?

    [–] drew_belloc@programming.dev 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait! Is not the other way around?

    [–] teddy2021@sh.itjust.works 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yeah, I would've thought that the stereotype would have been an overweight white male with patchy facial hair who probably uses arch.

Hey. I will have you know that this magnificent beard is a sign of martial prowess and masculinity. I could easily cut you in half with any of my katanas but would find it easiest with the bat'leth, with which I have trained extensively for some time. Of course I would not have to wield the blade myself, as I can simply use my programming skills on my arch setup to program a robot to do so.

    [–] MajorHavoc@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Just because I'm building a robot that wields a bat'leth, doesn't mean I'm using Arch.

    I mean...I am using Arch.

But I chose Arch for entirely separate personal reasons.
