[โ€“] drwho@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Same folks who used to send lots of money to televangelists.

I assume Trump just didn't pay the guy who made it

[โ€“] krolden@lemmy.ml 1 points 2 years ago

I wouldn't be surprised.

[โ€“] mp3@lemmy.ca 44 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (2 children)

Still defaced as of right now.

[โ€“] Daft_ish@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

It's a joy to be alive in this moment

It still is 11 hours later.

[โ€“] sugar_in_your_tea@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Still is 13 hours after you. This is amateur hour.

[โ€“] grinde@programming.dev 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Still is 3 hours after you. What are we up to, 27 hours and counting?

The guy's twitter password was yourefired when it was hacked, then it was "upgraded" to maga2020! when it was hacked again. The sec researcher told him to add 2FA and a stronger password; he didn't.

So, yeah, not surprised

The hacker, whoever they are, crossed out Trumpโ€™s name and appended to the siteโ€™s banner โ€œAmerica Is Already Great.โ€

liberalism

Let's see Donny wriggle his way out of this one!

Status update: still defaced!

[โ€“] BobKerman3999@feddit.it 17 points 2 years ago (2 children)

So what are the chances it hasn't been defaced but this is just another way of being in the news? It is particularly harmless

[โ€“] haganbmj@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Good way to play victim too.

[โ€“] jmbmkn@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago

This is always my worry too. It would be impossible, but I'm curious if ignoring people who act this way would be effective.

[โ€“] Gmork@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 years ago (2 children)

It's days like this that make me wish I were a 1337 h4x0r.

Whoever did this... you forever have my gratitude and you are an inspiration to us all.

[โ€“] Auzy@beehaw.org 3 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

I doubt they needed to be a 1337 H4x0r in this case.

People voting trump generally aren't particularly smart and many of them have probably isolated themselves so much, they probably didn't have much real help.

Furthermore, knowing these kind of people, they probably didn't pay the guy who made it, and they probably defaced it (which wouldn't be a surprise).

The fact its still offline seems to suggest the latter

[โ€“] Gmork@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago

Ha! Ya know, you're probably spot on with this. I think by this point they have a pretty long history of not paying.

Regardless, I still want to be a hacker. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

They probably just guessed the password to a WordPress site or something.

I'm surrounded by freaking idiots! โ€”Donald Trump/Dr Evil

[โ€“] Duamerthrax@lemmy.ml 15 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He has bragged about never hiring people he thought was smarter then himself.

[โ€“] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

Ah, the Ron DeSantis approach (see Thigh food lol)

  1. L bozo
  2. "America is already great" ๐Ÿคฎ
[โ€“] Psythik@lemm.ee 10 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

That was my biggest issue with the hack as well. America was never great.

[โ€“] cheese_greater@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

The most fundraising and winning "billionaire". Incredible how gullible these folks are that send their livelihood to Trumpicana.

[โ€“] dunestorm@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago

How long before they declare Trumpism as a recognised medical condition?

[โ€“] flan@hexbear.net 4 points 2 years ago

That'll teach him for messing with
