“Disputed” it’s not disputed lol, China says it owns all of the South China Sea and no one else agrees, we don’t call my neighbors lawn disputed because I claim it

[–] Skua@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

To be fair it is disputed, it's just that everyone else's claims are significantly less ridiculous than China's. There's a small scrap of sea claimed by all of Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, and China.

Just fire a fire cannon back, duh

[–] malamignasanmig@group.lt 5 points 1 year ago

the word 'boats' was used for their vessel, id imagine it is not something cannon-capable. /s
on a more serious note, Chinese vessels have also been reported to harass Philippine fishermen (who obviously cannot fire back. and sadly, were told to shut up by the Chinese-loving previous administration)

This is the best summary I could come up with:

The Philippine Coast Guard has accused its Chinese counterpart of firing water cannon at its vessels and blocking them in the disputed South China Sea.

It said this happened when its ship was escorting boats carrying supplies for Filipino soldiers stationed on one of the contested Spratly Islands.

In a statement, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said the incident happened on Saturday as its vessels were heading to Second Thomas Shoal in the Spratly Islands.

Access to these waters is key to defending Taiwan at a time when China's claims over the self-governed island have intensified.

The waterways also host $5tn (£4tn) of global trade every year, raising concerns that Beijing's increasing footprint could restrict commerce.

I'm a bot and I'm open source!

ASEAN countries should just rename the sea to North SEA sea. It’s mostly not China’s territory anyway.

Why not just post the tldr in the very comment you linked to it?

[–] rikudou@lemmings.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It would clutter the comment section if multiple people asked.

[–] baduhai@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If a second user asked, it could just respond with a link to the original tldr.

But not the first time, which is what my grievance was about.
