For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

That's a pathetic amount. It should have been much more. Does that include bots? I'm admittedly not going to read the article.

Same. Guess we can all wonder together

If every one of us that refuses to read the article stood in a line together we'd create a wonder wall.

I keep making the argument for the government agency I work for to get off the platform. But the powers that be are so hung up on engagement metrics they don't care that the site is toxic and dangerous. I also believe that Twitter activity insulates government from being shown amongst the worst of it.

See what you can do to get their posts next to some Nazi style propaganda that's over run that shit hole of a site and send the screen shots.....

How do they know their engagement metrics are people and not bots? Or do they not care lol

[–] YaksDC@lemm.ee 3 points 8 months ago

I don't think they care as long as it "looks" like they got eyeballs.

It seems much worse than the headline

It could be a 55% to 84% drop depending on if they have given straight answers in the past.

Less than one percent teens under 18.

KEY FACTS

The data, which is part of a larger study conducted by Edison, said 27% of the total population in the U.S. reported using X in 2022 and 2023, a figure that has decreased to 19% in 2024.

The data is a measure of people who said they were using the service, not a measure of premium X subscribers or accounts, Edison noted.

Edison said the social media platform also experienced declines in monthly and weekly usage, but didn’t provide details about such data.

The 2022 and 2023 usage data was gathered through a national telephone survey of about 1,500 people aged 12 and older—further details and methodology for the 2024 usage data will be released on March 28, according to Edison.

CONTRA

Yaccarino has painted a different picture of traffic on X. She said during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in January that X had 90 million U.S. users, less than 1% of which she said were ages 13-17. Last year, the chief executive also said that X had 540 million monthly active users and 200 million to 250 million daily active users or “something like that.”
