I've been exploring the fediverse and subbing and posting all over the damn place. Realizing lemmy can federate with kbin blew my mind. Not to mention the possibility of turning my old laptop into a personal server to host my own instance. Is this what it felt like to discover how the internet worked in the 90s?

How do we make comments on posts from kbin or other instances? When I go to their website it says I need to sign up or login.

Vulcan wasn't around back in the early-to-mid 1990s (born in 1998), but after reading literature about World Wide Web, Vulcan convinced that fediverse is the closest equivalent to the spirit of the WWW (and also Usenet) in the 21st century.

@ruud@lemmy.world Yo dude, first off huge props and a big thank you for what you have setup. I'll be donating monthly while I am here. I appreciate that we have an alternative to Reddit at this critical moment in time.

I do have a question on your long term plans, do you want to continue to expand and upgrade the server, as funding allows, or is there a cap that you will close off the server to new members? Or perhaps make it more of a process to join?
