now i can feel extra guilty about all the games i bought a decade ago and haven't played :]

[–] psivchaz@reddthat.com 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Just sort by date added to library and then filter by "never played" and voila, you can sort by how bad you should feel.

this is exactly what it was built for!

Wish there was more customization of your shelves in general. Like having "or" or "not" paramenters. And the game genres they have are limited.

[–] theterrasque@infosec.pub 3 points 1 year ago

I really want negative filters. I can filter on "installed" but not on "not installed" for example. Or "vr". And so on

[–] candyman337@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I think you can do similar with collections

[–] Gellis12@lemmy.ca 16 points 1 year ago

Thank you valve! I wish for this option every time I buy a bunch of games on humble bundle

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I just want to sort by install location.

[–] Waker@lemmy.pt 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Genuine question, why is that useful?

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

On Steam Deck, Steam supports hotswapping SD cards, so you can have multiple cards loaded with different games and quickly swap between them. Less useful for PCs.

[–] Waker@lemmy.pt 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Ah I see, that would be useful for the steam deck then.

I wonder though, why not just remove the games you don't have available on that sdcard? Wouldn't that make more sense?

[–] BartsBigBugBag@lemmy.tf 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Well, because sometimes I want to play those games.

So on deck, you just get an “installed” list in a sort of Big Picture-esque interface. You can sort it, but games that are installed on the internal drive are listed in-line with games on the SD, which can make it difficult to tell exactly which games are on the SD and which are on the internal at a glance.

I would find it really interesting to look through but honestly it's probably not something I would use more than once.

[–] silent_clash@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 1 year ago

Way overdue feature. I agree, perfect for locating bundle pieces as those quickly fall off the recent list.

[–] candyman337@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Oh neat, that's a cool option, if not for organization for nostalgia's sake

[–] circuitfarmer@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 1 year ago

Thanks Gabe

[–] richyawyingtmv@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

This will be interesting

[–] NabeGewell@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This is a great feature, there goes half a dozen of my playlists

[–] paddirn@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wish there was an option to update metadata for games on our end and just more options for sorting in general. For alot of games, the developers just haven't added metadata for it or haven't added dates on them. So if you try to sort by the date when a game was released, you'll have some games that just don't have any date associated with them and they'll likely never be updated. I was trying to go through my Library in chronological order of game release date and found an annoying chunk of games that were like that.

[–] theterrasque@infosec.pub 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

One thing that would be cool would be some kind of rest API in the Steam client.

[–] semperverus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I believe they have a rest API, but it relies on your account settings being set to public to use.

[–] theterrasque@infosec.pub 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

That's only their servers, not the client. I can't install, uninstall, list installed games, add to collections, launch games and so on from that AFAIK

[–] BrooklynMan@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

a sort option is newsworthy?

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 8 points 1 year ago

It is for me. I buy a lot of bundles, and have a very large library. Sometimes it's really hard to find newly added games.

[–] SuperSaiyanSwag@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 year ago

What kind of posts do you expect to see every day in steam specific community?

[–] kr0n@lemmy.ml 0 points 1 year ago

I wish a way to reset time played stats for some games.

I used long time ago a software for mining game cards and that spoiled my time played stats. I regret to do it. But now I cant do nothing to solve it.

[–] Umbra@kbin.social -1 points 1 year ago

That's useful I guess
