Reddit reposts are terrible because it's always bots spamming old, popular content in order to build up karma.

You reminded me of the main reason why I didn't like Reddit reposts (it's been a while). Just as bad were the other bots that took top comments from the earlier posts and put them in verbatim in the repost.

Damn I had almost forgotten about that. You'd see a top comment that was funny and witty, only for the next comment to point out that it was a bot stealing the comment from the last time the post was made. That place is such a shit hole it's amazing we put up for it as long as we did.

It's not like there were plenty of alternatives to choose from.

Not like people doing that for upvotes is better.

Please stop reposting stuff less than a month old, guys.

100% true. 0% regrets.

I also react differently to simple things like hugs, drawings, or snacks delivered via faceless corporation versus a child I love.

[–] victron@programming.dev 5 points 11 months ago

I'm gonna treasure this comment.

You're still seeing things on Reddit? gestures at top panel

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 17 points 11 months ago

Not since July this year. I do remember looking at reposts with disdain when I was there, though.

[–] someguy3@lemmy.ca 13 points 11 months ago

Are you trying to bring back beans?

[–] SVcross@lemmy.world 9 points 11 months ago (1 children)

A classic is a classic for a reason, but at the same time, if it is not the platform, I can't call it a repost.

Perfect for Karma Farming and I don't mind.

Also some form of backup if reddit decides to shutdown subs or mods get pissed.

Meme hoarders in preparation for a possible Meme Economy crash and recession?

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Everybody does his/her part.

I'm going to screenshot this and repost this on Lemmy, doing my part to keep their content flowing, and doing my part to reduce pixels with every repost.

Oh wait. I'm clearly confused. I thought I was on Reddit. This is Lemmy. I've been double dipping the last couple days.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'll consider it a compliment for all of the Lemmyverse that my meme made you do a double-take of where you were.
