I get more of a early 2000s vibe from the fediverse, with it's smaller, more intimate communities akin to those old school phpBB and vBulletin forums I used to frequent extremely often, but of course more modernized.
Ah nostalgia. I used to host a hip hop vbulletin that everyone migrated to after the biggest one closed down.
This is what it reminds me of. The bbs ecosystems around 1998-2003. PhP, Scoop sites, etc.
Scoop sites? Is that like a topsite?
No... though, those were fantastic.
Scoop was a format that a bunch of sites used. Just had a look and found the remnants of one: Hulver.
I got a 500 error from that URL.
