Lemmy.ml is doomed. You were unlucky to pick the wrong instance. It's one of the downside of federated Lemmy that .ml is the oldest instance, leading to many cool communities being hosted there. The only way is to start that community on another instance that is not .ml or .world and staying patient.
Hexbear and lemnygrad are not even a choice.
Seriously. When I learned that the "ml" stood for Marxism-Leninism I almost had second thoughts about leaving the R-site.
The

TLD belongs to Mali BTW. A semi-failed African state which just kicked out the "imperialist" French soldiers it had previously invited to put down its jihadist insurgents, in order to replace them with Russian mercenaries generously sent by Putin. You can't make this stuff up.The community is a very weird mix of Anti-Imperialists, communists and islamists.
They are not openly Russia-friendly, but they are very uncritical towards authoritarian systems. From pro-palestine over pro Hamas to pro Iran, and then you are almost there.
I sometimes wonder if it is just the US-american left going insane these days or if some corners of Lemmy are under the influence of Russian and Chinese troll factories.
There's absolutely troll farms operating in the Hexbear community and overlap is basically guaranteed.
I wonder if that's really true though. From a strategic point of view it makes not much sense to me to focus on such a tiny community as Lemmy is over the usual targets such as TikTok, Meta and Shitter.
When you're employed by the state to shit post as your day job, I imagine you have numerous tools — an entire web platform to efficiently orchestrate and coordinate your activity — and time to post everywhere. Strategically, Lemmy is a low investment and could potentially lead to dominating and moderating a much larger community in future.
Didn't Mali order a recall of all ml domains a while back due to an incident where military emails being sent to .mil were accidentally sent to .ml domains instead.
They recalled free domains. Lemmy.ml is paid
Ah, that's too bad, would've been a great way to get people and communities to move on from that instance.
