Found cool program that you can use to backup\save important file like pgp key, mnemonic and much more (up to 1.9 KiB) in encrypted QR-code and store\share it on a paper

It works only from CLI, but wish to ask, and hope to find someone who can help:

• To make Small GUI and multiplatform release, for example AppImage, Deb, Flatpak or probably one page HTML version? So users can visually works with it not only from CLI

• Later add release of .apk file for Android to generate\scan protected QR's and decrypt them?

Does anyone having experience using Seers Lodge for chatting/messaging?

Hey people! I was wondering if anyone here has heard of/ used Morena's /e/OS and would be willing to share some opinions?

I was looking to get a FairPhone 5 sometime soon anyways and randomly came across the option to get it "without Google"

Which took me a bit off guard because I never really considered that something like that could be an option (without the hassle of rooting a phone and slapping a custom OS on it). So - is it any good? It says that you can still install most regular Android Apps. I don't think I would miss any specific Google features, and getting a fresh start with a phone does sound nice.

Well i just got hooked on my CD collection, and want to register the CDs I have, to have a ordered view of my collection, and to search after titles. I like how discogs looks, and works with scanning the barcode. But is there for android or Linux an app or web place that's an alternative to discogs?

I was searching for any native(non-proxied) YouTube client for Android in kotlin.

I found this which is making me excited, but in the same time I am worried about its security and privacy that make me unable to install it.

Does anyone know the developer and is the app safe and private?

This may be one of those questions that might expose my half-baked knowledge in this field, so I thank the experts patiently explaining this to me in advance.

1. What is the fuss about web browser engines?

As I can see, there have been many web browser engines in the past; most defunct / unmaintained and the three: blink, gecko and webkit being the only ones actively developed and maintained today (I am aware of Goanna, but some articles online say it isn’t being developed anymore – I could be wrong). What is stopping someone; say the FSF or some other group championing libre software from coming up with their own web engine completely different from the incumbent engines? I understand that not all web features will work with every engine, but surely we need more diversity than just the existing three to spur more development, right? Many software including the Linux kernel had humble beginnings and if enough people find it to be a suitable alternative, they might slowly jump ship to this new hypothetical web engine that was built using GPL3 from scratch.

2. What is stopping web developers from simply shunning Google’s Manifest V3?

I haven’t seen or heard of one single good thing about Manifest V3 from any web developer (at least the six that I know personally), and have only read articles on why it is either unnecessary, or that the proposed advantages can easily be done is a less disruptive manner. While I appreciate that the internet today runs a lot on Google’s infrastructure and services, surely if Web Devs tell them to go pound sand, or intentionally break the site when using Google Chrome, and put a message saying, “Go to Firefox / Safari for a better experience”, that will make Google backtrack.

Once again, I apologise for these basic / daft questions. I appreciate any insight that you may have for me.

I have been working on mostly bug fixes lately and improving the platforms, some of the latest things:

• Many failures of posting on small things like character limit or uploading size.

• Fix problems in LinkedIn not loading pages.

• Team invite was fixed :)

• A bunch of docker changes to make it super easy to load. It's now live on: Coolify, Ptah soon Cloudron

**But the most important thing in the roadmap here is what I was mainly asked: **

• Add and an option to schedule stories on Instagram and add music to them

• Public API

• YouTube community posts schedule

• Google Business schedule

• Auto Plugs (I'm super excited about this one): Once tweets get X likes, they will auto-repost, add comments to tweets, and so on; this will be sent to all social media.

• SSO

• I am happy to hear about more requests.

One clarification after seeing many comments over and self-hosted: Postiz will always be apache-2, no weird dual license thingy, and no enterprise-only SSO.

Postiz is not making much money. Today we are on a product hunt. If you can help me out, it would be amazing, but if not, I love you anyway :)

Looking for Mentor (for a PhD Candidate) that works with open source and Rust

TLDR: Searching for person holding professor position to officially act as a committee member on a US PhD defense

Hi all,

I'm in a non CS field. I'm doing PhD in hydrology and I'm good at Geospatial Analysis, data analysis, visualization, modeling and such. I really like programming and have been making open source programs, contributing to open source programs and such. And have been learning rust for last 2 years.

For my PhD dissertation I'm doing a project where I'll be using Rust to make a program with compiled plugin system that can do generalized river related tasks including data analysis and visualization. I have professors in GIS and hydrology to guide those aspects, but I don't have anyone on software side to ask questions, or to look at my work. I tried emailing some people I have seen with open source projects on GIS+rust, but no response.

I'm ideally looking for someone that holds a professor position for my committee who is good with either rust, GIS related algorithms development, and programming languages. However, it woud also be helpful to just have someone woth knowledge about such things. In either scenario, credit and authorship will be given.

I appreciate any response even telling where i could find someone matching the above description. :)
