Hi everyone! My name is Matt, and I’m a fashion sportswear design student at the London College of Fashion. For my university project, i’m exploring ways to get more people aged 18-35 into geocaching by designing specialized clothing for the sport.

I’d love your input on what you wear while geocaching! I’ve created a brief, anonymous questionnaire that takes about 5 minutes to complete. If you feel like there doesn’t need to be anything specifically designed for geocaching, that’s perfectly fine to say in the questionnaire—honesty is key!

If you prefer, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments instead. Your feedback is crucial in helping me create gear that’s both functional and stylish for our community.

Cheers!

EDIT:

Thank you all for your valuable opinions and feedback! It really helps to understand the factors and choices that influence your outfits.

Just to clarify, my course focuses primarily on functionality and design rather than fashion and aesthetics, so most of my design choices will center on comfort and practicality, with a bit of attention to style.

I appreciate the feedback on the survey as well; I’ll make sure to amend it based on your suggestions regarding the lack of choices and input options.

Thanks again, Matt

When you plan a geocaching event outside, place the coordinates a little bit out in the open (if that doesn't confuse anyone). Then for fun (and enlightenment) at the social, have everyone pull up the event cache listing on their GPS/phone device and walk to their "ground zero" by the coordinates.

People will laugh and learn a lot how different devices "find" a different "ground zero" at the same time and with the same coordinates. Plus they will remember that "lesson" when they next look for a geocache.

If you continue the game for several minutes or so, people will follow their GPS coords to different places, showing even more how much to trust the GPS when you are very close to the cache.

Laugh and learn!

I went premium and came back to caching after 13 years and found out that in my area there aren't many people going caching these days. I put out over 10 caches and a lot aren't micros, but have had only a few go to each. I made them all public too. Not premiums. Now- those people who have visited them seemed to be overjoyed at seeing new caches in the area. I can say that. Some haven't been found in over a month and a half. Weird! I have found this with other old hobbies of mine too. Has anyone else ran into this? I'm in NE Ohio. On the finding side, I found quite a few caches in terrible shape that haven't been maintained in several years. What happened? Thanks in advance.

Just want to say that geocaching makes me happy and each hide I find makes me smile. I appreciate the work that goes into putting one together, so thank you all who have hides out there. 😊

A lot of caches around me have logs completely full or soaking wet deteriorating logs.

What's the general opinion on adding a log strip the the full logs, and replacing the wet/deteriorating logs?

Debating on putting logs in my cache bag for on the go.

Hi all,

This weekend saw the placement of my second hide! It was published this afternoon, and exactly 10mins later it had been logged as found.

What’s odd to me is that the log makes no mention of being FTF, no mention of the wooden FTF coin that I left in the cache. The only thing they mention is that they are on day xxx of xxx trying to get a daily caching emerald (?).

I cant help but feel a bit disappointed and also a bit suspicious as to whether they actually found it or not. Yes, I could just go back out there and check but I don’t wanna baby it like that or make it obvious to muggles.

My last hide (no coin left) was found after a couple hours and they not only mentioned FTF but also the time they found it. Which I’ve noticed is common for first logs, especially in my area.

Would appreciate your thoughts: am i just overreacting/ did I expected too much.

I love geocaching and I especially love heading to caches that have trackables listed. I follow the journeys of those trackables and get a kick out of seeing where they have been before. What I loath, however, is heading for a cache that has a TB listed and then finding that it isn’t there. Log your TBs please! They can’t always simply have gone missing due to muggles.
