I'm looking for alternative dedicated server hosts / VPS that go in the same direction as the policies that njal.la and which has a history of not sharing data during legal requests to host a torrent tracker. I'd like to know if there are any alternatives! Thanks :)

Edit: The main things I'd like is to be able to pay in cash or Monero

I hope this is the right forum.

@everyone Due to a DMCA takedown notice, most anime extensions have been removed from the official extensions list. Please note that there is nothing the mods can do against this situation.

While the FBI is doing its important work, I mean.

For example used to it would show HBO Max, Netflix, etc. Now it doesn't do that and I can't figure out how to make it do it again.

Looks like CreamAPI is not affected. Looks like a Paradox games fan's worst nightmare.

Link to change in latest Steam client update.

There's a documentary that's more than a decade old that now only exists on Amazon Prime. I have searched everywhere for this but the website (and thus DVDs being sold) doesn't exist any more, there are no torrents, no second hand DVDs for sale that I can find online..... I'm OK with buying the doco from Amazon (albeit not happy about giving Amazon any money) but once I've bought it I don't want to be locked into Amazon's infrastructure (I do not trust streaming services to keep such niche videos available indefinitely).

So how would I go about downloading and removing DRM from Amazon videos?

I read an old post about mp4decryptgui but that hasn't been updated in 3 years so I don't know if it works any more.

The only other methods I've found involve buying expensive Windows only software (I'm on Linux but can dual boot if absolutely needed).

Thanks!

(Also please excuse the freshness of my account - for some reason Kbin threw an error every time I tried to post using my usual account.)

Sounds ominous.

Where to now?

Edit: The claim is that they're offline for maintenance - not sure how credible the source is though or why it was worded to intimate otherwise.

Ahoy!

I recently got a new TV and I need some advice on how to best take advantage of my setup.

My current setup: I have an old laptop as my homeserver. I have Pihole on it. I also have setup a VPN with Gluetun that other docker containers are using. To watch movies I have a Kodi + Real Debrid setup on my actual laptop and I would use that with an HDMI cable to watch movies on my old TV.

What has changed now is that I have an Android TV, and to be perfectly honest it was a bit of a hassle to use the laptop to watch stuff especially TV shows because between each episode I would have to get up and use the laptop to play the next episode, and I have to set up my laptop each time because it's my main device and I need to take it with me everywhere. I have the Kore app on my phone but that wouldn't work if my VPN is running on either my phone or laptop, which usually is the case.

From what I read, the simples solution would be setting up stremio on the TV with RD and ditch the VPN. However I would prefer if there was a way to route the traffic through VPN. Do you guys know any better solutions?

Thanks in advance for your help. P.S. Cat pic for your troubles

So I saw this post here a couple days ago about music piracy and got interested in soulseek. I've installed nicotine in a docker container and started searching for some music. I've found some pretty hard to find music and this album my father used to have in vynil when I was a kid. Cool. But the files had PRIVATE written on them.. Tried to download but the user did not share them with me. My question is: what's the point of sharing folders in a p2p program and denying access to these folders? I mean..just don't share it if you won't let anybody download it. Am I missing something in order to download this album?

Edit: hey guys I sent a message to the user asking if he could share the folder with me and he answered that he'd added me and I could download whatever I wanted! Great! Thanks for the help!

Hello,

I'm trying to send something to my gf's friend (~50gb)

I tried creating my own torrent and was able to dl it on another device, but on her machine it stayed at 0% and wouldn't let me connect to seed

Is FTP a good option? I set up a proxmox server last night but I don't really know what I'm doing yet

Any guidance greatly appreciated, thanks.

YouTube is currently experimenting with server-side ad injection. This means that the ad is being added directly into the video stream.

This breaks sponsorblock since now all timestamps are offset by the ad times.

For now, I set up the server to detect when someone is submitting from a browser with this happening and rejecting the submission to prevent the database from getting filled with incorrect submissions.

G’day all. I want to watch sports radio shows like Dan Patrick and Pro Football Talk on Peacock when they are live, but can't find a site that has the daily shows from the 'Cock available to stream. I checked through multiple megathreads and can't find any resources for this :( Additionally, I would love to find a place to watch Roku channels live, as I'm not in US and VPN doesn't seem to work for this. Cheers

Hi there,

I use a Jellyfin server to host my own movies and trying to think about doing the same about music. The problem is that I watch roughly one movie a week but a lot more of music (all day long). For now I'm mainly using sp0tify but the UI is worse and worse, constantly asking for more money.

I don't care much about my playlists but I'd need to start a list of the groups I listen to, probably around 200/300 ones on "random".

I'd be curious how you started you transition / technical one too.

Thanks

Edit: wow Thanks a lot for the great advices. I already have a tailscale + Jellyfin so I will probably start there with symfonium. For the download I will give soulseek a go.

Some sites even from the megathread of this /c/ doesn't sometimes show health or if it is complete . Also even reccomended torrent search engine websites suck and only crawls through some websites is there any you would rec ? Most traditional ones doesn't work either like DDG, Google or brave any that work ?

Edit : Because of some comments I thought I should mention the tools I use for more better answers

Browser - Fennec with ublock in default mode .

OS - Android.

Client - Libretorrent .

And I would also settle for direct downloads but most sites I've found suck in downloading even with a download manager like they would cut of just for pausing or leaving tab/app, connecting to another app, small network issue, and have more dead links and good ones tend to be taken down fast . So do feel free to recommend ones you use .

I've been trying to mimics the functionality of Steam with open source projects. For example using Playnite as my game library manager. One thing I'm having a bit of a hard time with is finding a substitute for achievement tracking. I know achievements aren't for everyone but I find it helps motivate me to power through lulls in longer games and try out side quests.

The closest alternative I have come across is xan105's Achievement Watcher. It started in 2019, got a fair amount of attention 2020 after being posted on /r/CrackWatch by the creator, was added to various piracy megathreads, and stopped development in 2022.

It was a bit of a challenge to setup.

Some steps were:

  • Grab my own Steam API so it could fetch data for the achievements.

  • Alter Windows 11's notification settings so I could get the achievement unlocked notification.

  • Go through the steam_emu.ini files so I could find the correct directories (ex. \Users\Public\Documents\CODEX)

  • Using Achievement Watcher to generate the achievements.json and image files and placing them in the steam_settings folder of each game.

Even then I haven't been able to get it working smoothly. For Cities: Skylines for example I can unlock achievements but I don't receive a notification and they only appear after I refresh Achievement Watcher (Control + R). Most modern guides suggest using a Steam Auto Cracker but doing so appears to stop the game from working. I don't know if this is because I am utilizing repacks or if there are multiple forms of DRM at work. I could easily be missing something.

I've read there are compatibility issues with Achievement Watcher and cracks from groups/people like TENOKE.

Considering I own the games I want to play without DRM I may just try to use Goldberg myself.

Some games like Fallout New Vegas allow you to view completed challenges in-game and I imagine there are mods out there that add some form of achievement/trophy/challenge system.

There's also RetroAchievements for older games.

Site not working for me. just wondering if anyone else having an issue.

Does such a feature even exist ? If not damn I have never found newpipe lacking features but that seems too big a one for them to not consider or I'm being dumb and don't know how to do it . Any other sites that can do it ? and there is no option to back up only playlists in new pipe so the site must have to be compatible with newpipe right ? I hated downloading mp3s of internet and the pain and riscs that came with it and newpipe was like really good for me but after I have reset my phone and imported everything back to the app I have found that I have to download songs one by one manually from the playlist lol which gets tired fast as there is a wait time and then you have to change the file type each time (which I think is a big flaw too lol considering how good the rest of the app and features are) etc.

I really don't want to have to go to a shady site maybe if there is no way I'll just do it manually one by one lol . Also not sure if the /c/ is right but it is pircy related I guess .

A guide on how to pirate e-books using IRC

In this tutorial, I will be using an Ubuntu to demonstrate the process.

While there is a project called Openbooks that can automate this process, I will be showing you how to do it manually because I've found Openbooks to be unreliable.

We will be using HexChat for this tutorial, but feel free to use an alternative client if you prefer. The process will remain the same regardless of the client you choose. As a side note, I've completed writing this guide and have found that HexChat is no longer supported. Instead, I recommend using Polari (for GNOME), Pidgin, or Konversation (for KDE). In fact, I've replaced the screenshots of connecting to the server with instructions on how to do it in Konversation, as it's the most similar to HexChat. However, Pidgin and Polari are also suitable alternatives that will work just as well.

Launch your IRC client.

18.png Click on "New…"

19.png

In the Server field, enter irc.irchighway.net and ensure the port number is set to 6667. Make sure to leave the SSL checkbox unchecked. Once you've entered the details, click OK to save the changes. Then, navigate to the Server list interface and click the "Connect" button.

If you're having trouble connecting, it's possible that your IP address has been blocked. This is more likely if you're using a VPN, Tor, or I2P.

Type /join #ebooks in the chat box

5.png To search for a specific eBook, type @search followed by the title or keywords of the book you're looking for. For example, if you're interested in finding a book from the Harry Potter series, you can type @search Harry Potter.

Try to find the book with just one search to avoid overwhelming the servers.

5.png

A window will appear; simply click the "Accept" button. Once you do, a zip file will be downloaded and saved to your default download folder.

7.png Extract the text file from the zip file, and then open the text file.

8.png Identify the book you want to obtain, and then copy the corresponding line of text. In my case, I want to get "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", so I will copy the line !DeathCookie J K Rowling - Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.epub and paste it into the chat box.

9.png Click on the file, and then click the "Accept" button. The file will then be downloaded to your default downloads folder, and you'll have it.

4books

I will maintain and update this guide on both Lemmy and my NotABug repository.

Hello, I'm not a fan of pirating when it's unecessary, in fact I've legit windows 10 on my PC, legit games etc.

I'd like to give a new life to my old Windows 7 notebook for when I travel or I want to work outside my room, and Microsoft has made VERY expensive to upgrade nowadays to the most recent OS (s).

I'd like to ask, since most posts I've read are old, what's the best way to pirate Windows 10 currently?
